NEW YORK (AP) — Lil Wayne is hoping his performance on the MTV Video Music Awards will be so good, fans will rush out and get his new album: The rapper is making it digitally available at midnight after Sunday's show.

"Tha Carter IV" will be available on iTunes, Amazon.com and other digital outlets. The physical album will hit stores Aug. 29.

"Tha Carter IV" features collaborations with Drake, Cory Gunz, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes and others.

Lil Wayne says he's making history.

"I am extremely excited to be the first artist to utilize such an amazing idea. I hope that I can open the door for others," he said in a statement Monday.

The strategy is similar to that used by Jay-Z and Kanye West for their best-selling "Watch the Throne" collaboration, which was available exclusively on iTunes for several days before hitting physical retailers. It debuted at the top of the charts last week.

Lil Wayne's Grammy-winning "Tha Carter III" was the best-selling album of 2008. He spent most of 2010 in a New York jail after pleading guilty to a weapons charge.

Lil Wayne is up for two VMA awards. The show is scheduled to air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Lady Gaga, Adele and Chris Brown are also set to perform. Pitbull was just added to the lineup, and Jessie J will be in the house band for the night.

MTV said there will be no single host this year because it is experimenting with a "nontraditional format."

Troubled, Grammy-winning singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her North London home, Sky News is reporting. The Daily Mail reports that police have confirmed the passing.

In a statement, the London Metropolitan Police said, "Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."

A suspected drug overdose took the life of the singer, Nick Buckley of the Sunday Mirror tweeted.

She's battled drug addiction for years, having most recently checked back into rehabilitation in May.

Winehouse entered treatment in late 2007 for drug problems, including admitted heroin use.

Earlier in the day, Tim Gatt of Sky News tweeted a statement from her manager saying that she was canceling upcoming performances, writing, "Amy Winehouse is withdrawing from all scheduled performances. Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen."

She performed in a surprise appearance at the iTunes Festival on July 20th.

Winehouse has had previous near-death experiences, including one her ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, described in detail back in 2009.

"I knelt over her as she kept on fitting. But then suddenly she just passed out and stopped breathing," he told The Sun (via NME). It was the most frightening thing I had ever seen. I felt sure I was watching her die right in front of me. I didn't know what to do or how to save her. I held her to me - and I thought she was dying in my arms. But somehow I managed to open her mouth and breathe air down her throat."

In January, 2010, she pled guilty to assaulting a theater stage manager.

In 2008, after some confusion, a spokesperson for Winehouse confirmed that she had "early signs of what could lead to emphysema."

UPDATE: Sky News Home Affairs Correspondent Mark White reports that sources confirmed that Winehouse died of a drug overdose.

UPDATE II: In a statement to Just Jared, Monte and Avery Lipman, heads of Universal Republic Records, said: “We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer. Our prayers go out to Amy’s family, friends and fans at this difficult time.”

UPDATE III: Scotland Yard told RadarOnline.com that an autopsy on Winehouse will be performed on Sunday.

"The postmortem has not been scheduled yet but it is unlikely to take place before tomorrow. In the case of a murder it can be done within hours but this is not the case so tomorrow or even Monday is more likely in these circumstances."

Anyone who’s seen him in concert recently can tell you that he’s still all youthful energy at 68, even if his voice sounds a touch rough at the edges here and there. He had a grand old time with songs including “Got to Get You Into My Life,” “Michelle” (for the first lady in the audience), “Ebony & Ivory” with Wonder, “Eleanor Rigby,” and ”Let It Be,” as simply moving as ever. ”I don’t think there could be anything more special than for us to be performing here,” McCartney remarked, right before the all-inclusive “Hey Jude” singalong. “And we’re thinking of making it a regular thing. Lunchtimes, we could come around.” If only!

In an interview with Playboy set to hit newsstands tomorrow, comedian Sarah Silverman responds to questions about her provocative brand of humor by telling a story about how “the onetime lead singer of a very popular band from the 1980s” came up to her after a show and said, “You’re my favorite comedian. You have the best nigger jokes.” Silverman didn’t outright name Journey Band’s Steve Perry, but she added, “I’ll just say this: After that, I stopped believin’,” a poke at the band’s classic “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

Was she joking? In an interview with Rolling Stone yesterday, Perry took Silverman’s accusation very seriously, adamantly denying he ever used “the n-word” after meeting her backstage at a comedy show. “I’m really shocked. She was so friendly and so nice,” Perry tells RS. “I don’t understand why she would go there, it’s so bizarre. I don’t use that word, are you kidding? That’s so derogatory.” Perry admits he met Silverman on a pair of occasions “a long time ago” after being “amazed at her ability to make people actually laugh at every racial slur and every ethnic group she could possibly come up with,” but insists Silverman’s recollection of their meeting is just another episode concocted by the controversial TV star for comedic effect.

Perry tells RS, “I walked up to her after the show and I said, ‘I can’t believe that somehow you seem to be getting away with all these slurs and the n-word, I just can’t believe how you’re doing this,’ and I looked at my friend and I said, ‘I can’t believe how she’s getting away with this,’ and she looked at me and kind of smiled. It wasn’t like I was condemning her or condoning her, it was just that I can’t believe how somehow creatively she was making everybody in that club of all colors and all ethnic backgrounds laugh. There is a good news for all fans who missed SWV songs playing on the radio. SWV (Sisters With Voices) is all set to release a fifth studio album this year, 2010. On June 24, 2008 SWV made a special appearance at the BET Awards 2008 and performed Weak with Alicia Keys. They even sang the chorus of TLC's Waterfalls.

SWV is an American trio from New York consisting of friends: Cheryl Gamble, Tamara Johnson and Leanne Tyons. Leanne Tyons was the fonder of the group. The group sent a five song demo to record labels in the US. Very Soon they were signed to a record deal with the RCA records in 1992.

SWV songs, lyrics were liked by one and all especially songs like Weak, Right Here/Human Nature and I'm so into you.

The group disbanded in 1999 to start solo projects but reunited in 2005.

Platt's manager tells TMZ Platt busted out an impromptu performance of "Pants on the Ground" during a flight from L.A. to Atlanta this AM -- after passengers recognized him and then begged him to do it.

We're told Platt -- who was on his way back home from The Grammys -- performed the song in the aisle in coach.

Platt was the last person to get off the plane -- because the pilots and flight attendants wanted to meet him.

So after much speculation about the context of Stevie Nicks' recently announced Grammy performance this Sunday night, it is confirmed that Taylor Swift will sing with her. Stevie and Taylor rehearsed "Rhiannon" and "You Belong With Me".

And finally, Friday brought the chance to see Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks collaborate in one of those moments the Grammys are known for. Swift — who has a very good shot at sweeping this year’s major categories, in my opinion — doesn’t wear her Fleetwood Mac fandom on her sleeve as a songwriter, but it is apparently there, for after running through her current single, “Today Was a Fairytale,” she used her very most dramatic voice to introduce her duet partner:

“And now, my fairytale dream comes true: I get to share a stage with Stevie Nicks.”

The two women’s voices complimented each other nicely on the harmonies of “Rhiannon,” before moving into a more awkward mandolin-fueled hoedown version of “You Belong With Me.” Never thought I’d see Stevie Nicks playing tambourine behind Taylor Swift, but that’s the magic of Music’s Biggest Night.

So, what do you think of this pairing? Purely a marketing strategy or simply another duet in keeping with Grammy tendency to pair legend with up and comer recently? I personally do not dig Taylor Swift's music, but then I'm not a tween anymore. Aside from tapping the commercial appeal of Swift's legions of fans, I find it an odd match. I would much rather heard Stevie duet with Alicia Keys, especially since Alicia shared Fleetwood Mac was a great inspiration for her new album.

Stevie is grown folks music and I think I shall wince a wee bit when I see this duet. But nonetheless it's seriously cool to see her perform on the Grammys, in any case.

As rumored, Elton John joined Lady Gaga to open the Grammy show with a duet. It featured glitter, ashes, severed limbs and crazy costumes.

Miki Howard grew up in the church, where both of her parents were gospel singers. Her mother was also a member of the gospel group the Caravans and was acquainted with various entertainers. Howard's mother would take her to the homes of various stars such as Aretha Franklin and Mavis Staples.

While still in elementary school, Howard moved to Los Angeles with her mom. At the age of 15, she performed in a teen pageant. After the show, she met Side Effect member Augie Johnson, who happened to be in the audience and began working with Howard creatively. After a period of time, Howard became a Side Effect member -- upon the departure of Sylvia St. James. Howard's tenure with the group lasted a few years. During this time, she also had two children by Johnson. In addition to singing with Side Effect, she did background vocals for Wayne Henderson, Roy Ayers, Stanley Turrentine, and several other artists.

After leaving Side Effect, Howard signed a deal with Atlantic. Her first hit for the label was the Billboard R&B Top Ten single "Come Share My Love." She followed that with the remake of Glenn Miller's 1940 hit "Imagination." Her success continued with two more Top Ten singles, "Baby Be Mine" and "That's What Love Is." The latter was a duet with Gerald Levert and was the result of the creative union Howard formed with Marc Gordon and Levert. Howard and Levert later became romantically involved, and that romance spawned one of Howard's biggest hits, "Love Under New Management." The song was written during their brief love affair, but was released after their romance had dissolved.

In 1990, Howard signed a deal with Giant, which facilitated the release of her number one smash hit "Ain't Nobody Like You." Rising rapper WAKA FLOCKA FLAME is recovering in hospital after he was shot during an apparent robbery on Tuesday (19Jan10).

The hip-hop newcomer - who has recorded with Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane and Rick Ross - was at the Bubble Bath Carwash in Atlanta, Georgia, when he was approached by an armed man who demanded he hand over his jewellery.

Flame, real name Juaquin Malphurs, is said to have been shot in the arm during the incident.

Fulton County police spokesman Sergeant Scott McBride explains, “A scuffle broke out, then shots were fired.”

Malphurs was rushed to receive emergency medical treatment, while the suspect is believed to have fled the scene.

Hilary Hahn: Bach Violin and Voice

Still young, intellectually agile and angelically gifted, the American violinist Hilary Hahn can be trusted to avoid the immediately obvious. Six CDs into her Deutsche Grammophon contract and she hasn’t turned to the Beethoven concerto. Elgar, yes; Schoenberg, yes; Mozart and Bach; even the dusty relic Spohr.

And now more Bach, but not in concerto form. This is a disc of mostly sacred cantata movements, featuring the violin as a solo instrumental colour intertwined with soprano or bass vocal lines. Bach’s combination of violin and voice, Hahn says, first smote her with its special magic when she was 5. Twenty-five years later, here is her CD of homage, recorded with the soprano Christine Schäfer, the wayward baritone Matthias Goerne and the staunch Munich Chamber Orchestra, directed by Alexander Liebreich.

The concept is appealing, and there are considerable rewards for following Hahn’s violin through cantatas, the B Minor Mass and the St Matthew Passion. Her prancing rhythmic inflections, golden yellow tones and avoidance of the fussily decorative bring delight in every one of the 12 tracks.

There are consequences, though. Given the context, the ear naturally seeks out Hahn’s bejewelled line, not always to the total benefit of the item at hand. Take the opening aria from the St Matthew Passion, Gebt mir meinen Jesum wieder! The violin gleams high like a thread of gold; by comparison, Goerne’s soft-grained bass suggests a raincloud, rumbling vaguely.

Schafer’s bright soprano generally proves an easier companion for Hahn’s violin. The pair are especially compelling in an aria of joyful contentment from BWV 204, the voice garlanded with Hahn’s virtuoso pirouettes.

I often wonder, with concept albums, how many times a purchaser would slot the CD into the machine after the novelty fades. Bach’s genius and Hahn’s artistry should provide lasting encouragement.

Jay Reatard of The Reatard, dead at 29

Sad news for the garage rock world: Jay Reatard, whose given name was Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., was found dead in his Memphis home early this morning. He was just 29. According to a statement from Goner Records, the label that released the singer's earliest efforts, he died in his sleep. Further details have not been released.

The troubled performer, whose entire band quit in October over an undisclosed dispute and whose rising star was occasionally besmirched by negative publicity over stage violence, leaves behind a legacy of energetic, angry and often melodic recordings with a variety of bands.

Emerging from the Memphis underground of the late ‘90s with punk act The Reatards, the young singer built a reputation on outrageous stage antics and fast and furious music with a buzzsaw sensibility. He spent time in bands as diverse as the synth-punk-influenced Lost Sounds, Nervous Patterns, Destruction Unit, new wave garage outfit The Final Solutions and innumerable incarnations of his self-titled act, including a couple of completely solo outings.

Reatard's 2006 album “Blood Visions,” from In the Red Records, garnered widespread critical acclaim and cult adulation, which led to his being signed to big-league indie Matador Records. His debut full-length for the label, “Watch Me Fall,” was released in late 2009.

A statement on the label’s Matablog reads: “We are devastated by the death of Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., aka Jay Reatard. Jay was as full of life as anyone we’ve ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We’re honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly.”

Michael McDonald Performing At Fiesta Bowl Today

This Saturday November 28th singer/songwriter Arlo Guthrie and other members of the Guthrie clan, his son Abe Guthrie, daughter Sarah Lee Guthrie and her husband Johnny Irion will pay tribute to his American folk legend father, Woody Guthrie at New York’s Carnegie Hall. They will be performing new music by Billy Bragg, Wilco, Eliza Gilkyson, Janis Ian, Wenzel, and The Klezmatics, put together with some of Woody’s unpublished lyrics.

Woody Guthrie was the figurehead of the folk music movement and is best known for writing “This Land Is Your Land” which is a standard sung in American schools nationwide. Sadly Woody died in 1967 due to complications of Huntington's disease.

Arlo who wrote the most famous thanksgiving song ever “Alice’s Restaurant”, which is about a Thanksgiving Day feast gone a skew and turns into an anti war protest song, has made it a tradition to play a Thanksgiving Day concert at Carnegie Hall every year since 1970 and this year is no different. He started the tradition with American folk singer Pete Seeger.

Arlo is also celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock with the release of Arlo Guthrie: Tales of '69. Which was recorded live in concert in Long Island, New York just before Woodstock. The Guthrie clan will also perform at Newark, New Jersey’s NJPAC the following Sunday.

The American Music Awards last night had their share of "Holy @%$!" moments, with Adam Lambert (video), Whitney Houston, and Lady Gaga all making performances that have people talking and checking Youtube this morning.

Jennifer Lopez made her musical return last night as well, in a performance as notable for a miscue as for anything else. She performed her new song, "Louboutins," with a phalanx of dancers dressed as boxers.

Check out the video, if you'd like to fast-forward to the fall, start watching around the 2:50 mark.

Two things about this one show that Lopez is still a star. To start with, she didn't miss a beat on the fall. That was a pretty good jump, she landed flat and bounced right back up.

Here's the difference between Lopez (a star) and me (a schlep). Lopez falls after climbing a staircase made of human beings, and literally standing on the back of a guy while belting out her notice to the world that she has returned. Meanwhile, I stub my little toe on the side of the refrigerator in the middle of the night coming to raid the fridge, and I have to call in sick the next day and I limp for a week.

Yep, she's still got it.

Taylor Swift, "Forever & Always." Nashville is going straight to its A-list star, opening the show with pop music's most popular living singer at the moment. She'll have two songs tonight, and first up is "Forever & Always." To sum it up: The 2009 CMA Awards are off and running with a train wreck. The energy and excitement of Swift's MTV Video Music Awards performance, in which she was running through a subway, is completely lost. Beginning with a fake interview with Nancy O'Dell was cute, especially when Swift noted that "If guys don't want me to write bad songs about them, they shouldn't do bad things." But turning her "Forever & Always" into a chair-throwing angsty performance, complete with a stripper -- or fireman’s pole (depending on your level of innocence) -- was ill-advised. She looked strained in trying to capture the anger of the song, awkwardly rolling on the floor and yanking at her hair. This is a D. But she has another performance in which to redeem herself.

Darius Rucker, "Alright." Performing after Carrie Underwood praised his ability to switch from rock ’n’ roll to country, Rucker unveiled a good-time pop-rock tune that wasn’t all that different from his Hootie and the Blowfish days. Although perhaps the reference to Patsy Cline was more of a nod to Nashville. Rucker, like Swift, sounded a bit off. But if Swift’s performance was oddly bad, this was just predictably bland. Rucker worked the crowd like he’d be selling records in the lobby after the show, running through the audience and high-fiving those in the expensive seats (the CMAs are open to the public). Pop & Hiss would say more about the song, but we’ve forgotten the performance while writing this summary. So a C.

Miranda Lambert, "White Liar." Here we go. Nashville should take note: All country award shows should be opened by Lambert. Though "White Liar" isn't the most fiery song on her recent "Revolution" (Pop & Hiss was pulling for "Sin for a Sin"), there's plenty to like here. Lambert is just the right mix of sweetness and grit, pulling the song to a mischievous stop in its final moments to reveal its lyrical twist. Her band is kickin', and she's on point. A

Brad Paisley, "Welcome to the Future." Songs about nostalgia have become a modern Nashville staple, and Paisley reveals his cute and relatable charm with this tune. Kids and parents unite as Paisley looks back on his days when he longed for a giant coin-op machine and tells us that now he has Pac-Man on his phone. References to video chats and homecoming queens stand side by side. As Paisley wields a sparkly blue guitar, he's a safe and modern star, coming across as the kind of rock 'n' roll heartthrob who isn't afraid to accessorize. B

Zac Brown Band, "Devil Went Down to Georgia." Faithful and crowd-pleasing, Zac Brown Band had the chops and the sharp violins to pull off the cover. But it’s an odd choice, considering this is one of country's most popular young acts and a group that will surely be in contention for best new artist at the Grammy Awards. An original would have been a better choice. We've heard this tune before, but the smokey D&D-like effects were kinda cool. Still, a cover here? D+

George Strait, "Twang." Country, straight-up. Sandwiched in the middle of three performances, Strait didn't get a prime showcase, but there's nothing to dislike here. This is lean-back, kick-up-your boots country, and Strait does it as well as anyone. A-

Lady Antebellum, "Need You Now." With the barren trees of fall and strands of Christmas lights, this backdrop was all elegant holiday loneliness. Hillary Scott isn't the world's most charismatic vocalist, but this ballad suits her just right. It's a gracefully easy melody line, and Lady Antebellum is better when not trying to rock out. Charles Kelley trades off with her, sounding like the completely uninteresting dude next door, but this single belongs to Scott. B

Carrie Underwood, "Cowboy Casanova." So long Nashville, as Underwood's "Cowboy Casanova" carries a slinky groove more fit for a dance club. Underwood's high heels and revealing outfit, as well as her backup singers in cocktail waitress attire, struck a more risque vibe. She could have been [insert pop star here] at your standard MTV award show, sporting a very glam outfit as she strutted and swung across the stage. But a spunky Underwood is better than ballad Underwood, and "Casanova" does a swell job of disguising what is -- for all intents and purposes -- a Top 40 cut with an occasional flash of country guitar notes. B-

Vince Gill and Daughtry, "Tennessee Line." A relatively stark stage kept the emphasis straight on the vocalists here, but there wasn't enough Gill. This seemed more marketing ploy than song, setting up the inevitable future country album from Daughtry. D

Keith Urban, "'Til Summer Comes Around." Urban is channeling the Eagles here, giving a low-key, back-lit performance. The song builds nicely, and Urban shows off some bluesy guitar notes toward the end. Would rather him cut a little loose, as the show needs some fire to get it into its midpoint here, but there's a compelling spookiness to the song that works. It also gives us time to reflect on just how many Fourth of July's the Australian-born singer has had in his life to reflect upon. B+

According to guitarist Joe Perry, that is.

Perry said in a recent interview that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has quit the band. Perry told the Las Vegas Sun "Steven quit, as far as I can tell."

Has Steven Tyler quit Aerosmith for real? The qualified nature of Joe Perry's statement makes it sound like he is simply trying to send a wakeup call to Tyler and scare him into returning.

Perry was responding to comments Tyler made in Classic Rock Magazine, when Tyler said, "I don’t know what I’m doing yet, but it’s definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself – Brand Tyler."

In any case, it's hard to imagine Aerosmith without Steven Tyler. The flamboyant frontman has been the face of the group since the 1970s, for all of their memorable hit singles, from "Walk This Way" to "Janie's Got a Gun" to their only #1 song, the power ballad "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."

Joe Perry floated the possibility of finding a new singer, but that never goes well - just ask Van Halen and INXS. Hopefully these guys can get together and patch things up.

Aerosmith had planned to do a massive summer tour, but that was scrapped after Tyler fell off the stage during a show and the rest of the tour was canceled. We'll keep an eye open for a response from Tyler, to find out for sure whether Steven Tyler has in fact quit Aerosmith.

Trey Songz “Invented Video” is one of the most seductive videos I have seen in a while, this video called “I Invented Sex” consist of so much explicit scenes and sexuality that a parental advisory “Explicit Content” warning has been shown in the start of the video.

The video “I Invented Sex” has been released to support Trey Songz’s single. Video focuses R&B singer Trey Songz while he is in bed with a young beautiful lady, affectionately playing and undressing her. Director for the video is Yolande Geralds.

Songz not only filmed “I invented Sex” video, but another video for his single “Say Aah” was also filmed before “I invented Sex”. Both videos were shot back-to-back in Brooklyn, N.Y.

“Say Aah” video was released earlier last month whereas “I Invented Sex” has being released just yesterday using “Twitter”.

This is not the first time Trey Songz did this…couple of months back he released his mix tape too via Twitter. I believe Songz want music industry to take a lesson from his promotional strategies that social media can be utilized for promotional purposes to its fullest.

Videos “Say Aah” and “I Invented Sex” features Drake and Fabolous, while both of the songs taken from his album “Ready” which is his third studio album. Since being released back in August Tray Songz third album “Ready” peaked at No. 03 on Billboard Hot 200.

Gicci Mane and Soulja Boy were also being featured in the album as guests.

Personally, I loved the album and I liked both videos as well.

Now in my opinion nothing can top "Single Ladies," however, this "Video Phone" music video turns it out--not in the same way, but Beyonce does not disappoint. She loves her dance moves and so do I. This video might be easier to learn the dance than "Single Ladies." I wish Lady GaGa was in "Video Phone," maybe they'll do a remake.

Keni Thomas to Sing at World Series Opener

Keni Thomas has the esteemed honor of singing the national anthem at the opening game of the 40th World Series tonight (Oct. 28). The country singer, who served in the U.S. Army throughout the 90s, will perform in tribute to his fellow American heroes.

"As a veteran, it's a privilege and an honor to be part of Major League Baseball's tribute to veterans, and to represent country music," he says.

Among Keni's many missions as a U.S. Army Ranger and Staff Sergeant was the deadly Battle of Mogadishu, which was immortalized in the book and movie, 'Black Hawk Down.' Since leaving active duty, the singer has dedicated much of his time and money to help veterans and their families.

Did you catch the U2 concert on YouTube last night? The one that was streamed live from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena?

There was admittedly something awe-inspiring knowing that people all over the world were watching it at the same time. A Twitter widget embedded on the U2 YouTube page streamed tweets tagged with #U2webcast: Peru, Philippines, Brazil, Ecuador, Indonesia, Argentina, Mexico....

The show was only supposed to be broadcast to 16 countries, including the US, but we saw countries named in the tweets that weren't in the official list.

In any case, if this was any indicator, maybe live concerts—pay-per-view-style—will prove to be a revenue generator for the business-model-struggling YouTube.

And in the meantime, if you missed it, YouTube promises the concert will be available for viewing on the official U2 channel.

Country star Garth Brooks out of retirement

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Garth Brooks, America's all-time best-selling solo artist, is coming out of an eight-year retirement to perform 16 weekends a year in Las Vegas, according to the musician.

The country star will play at the Wynn Las Vegas resort in an unusual five-year deal that required the hotel group to buy the singer a private jet to ferry him and his family to Nevada from their home in Oklahoma.

Brooks, 47, only agreed to the comeback on the condition it would not interfere with driving his young daughters to school in Tulsa, Oklahoma every morning, Wynn Resorts chief executive Steve Wynn said at a press conference.

"He said my music was something people should hear and I thought that was sweet," said Brooks, who has sold more than 110 million copies of his 19 albums. "I told him he couldn't afford me. I was wrong."

Best known for hits "Friends in Low Places" and "The Thunder Rolls," Brooks rocketed to fame in 1989 as one of the first country music artists to also top the popular music charts.

The Vegas shows, with the first scheduled for December 11, will be a freewheeling production in which he may or may not appear with a band. The song list will not be set and Brooks's wife, three-time Grammy Awards winner Trisha Yearwood, is likely to share the stage occasionally.

Blueprint 3 Leaks

According to hundreds of blogs, Internet forums, Twitter accounts and so on, Jay-Z’s highly anticipated eleventh studio album, The Blueprint 3, leaked earlier today. Looking to make its release a BIG event, the NYC rapper had scheduled the album’s release date for Sept. 11, exactly eight years after both 9/11 and the release of the original Blueprint record. In an effort to avoid the inevitable early leak (nice try!), he had planned to hand deliver the album, himself, to the necessary record distributors. But alas. It leaked all the same. Lots of tears I’m sure.

As to the actual album, it features 15 tracks and just about as many guest spots – apparently Hova likes company in his old age. It also features the production work of Kanye West, No I.D. and Timbaland (plus one-offs by Swizz Beatz, The Neptunes, The Inkredibles & Al Shux). Overall, it sounds pretty good. But yeah, nothing on the original. What’s your take though?
